6-17-99 -- A non-contact loop controller that helps regulate
the diameter of extruded products and provides continuous, smooth operation for
the take-up process is available from Waddington electronics, Inc. of Cranston
Rhode Island.
The SONA-TROL ST-6 Ultrasonic Loop Controller features a sensor head that can
be mounted from 18" to 20 feet above a loop to measure changes in stock distance
as small as .01 inches without touching the soft extruded material.
Performing loop measurements at up to 100 times / second, it can control the
OD of extruded tubing when used in conjunction with a diameter measuring device,
while providing smooth continuous of the take-up process.
Capable of changing spool take-up speeds if if seven measurements are outside
of preset limits of tripping an alarm, the SONA-TROL ST-6 Ultrasonic Loop
controller's standard features include built in provisions for external
measurement control by a PLC or computer and adjustable zero offset and Gain and
adjustable receiver gain. an optional upper time filter prevents the measurement
of items which occasional pass in front of the stock
