Set-up and Adjustment Procedure for the SUPER DANCER Dancer Arm Position Controller [Model #’s: SD-1R & SD-1]

Theory of operation: The Electronic control package consists of 4 main control

components. They are as follows: 1.) Analog Proximity Sensor (3 to 5mm range)

2.) PS-3 ( power supply)

3.) PID-2 (dancer position control module)

4.) LB-2 (dancer arm over travel module)* optional

With the Dancer Arm (Prox. Switch) in the Zero speed position, Super Dancer can be adjusted to 0vdc output. (When connected to a variable speed drive this would normally represent Zero speed.)

With the Dancer Arm (Prox. Switch) in the full speed position, Super Dancer can be adjusted to 10vdc output. ( When connected to a variable speed drive this would normally represent Full speed.)

The change from Zero to Full Dancer Arm position will be a linear 0-10vdc output. The optional LB-2 alarm relay can be adjusted to energize or de-energize at any position in the arc of the dancer arm. (Typically used for emergency or tight loop shut off.)

Step: Adjustment Procedure

1.) With Dancer Arm in the desired Off or Zero position, adjust potentiometer P4 on the PID-2 until there is 0vdc on terminals 7(-) & 8(+). [This sets your Zero or Minimum speed position.]

2.) With Dancer Arm in the desired Full speed position, adjust potentiometer P6 on the PID-2 until there is 10vdc on terminals 7(-) & 8(+). [This sets your Full Speed position.]

3. ) Move Dancer Arm to Over Travel position and adjust P1 on LB-2 until LED energizes or de-energizes. [This sets your Emergency Stop position.] # optional

4.) In the event your motor speed is not sufficient and your loop pulls tight and or hits the Over Travel limit (LB-2) frequently during normal operation, a faster RPM per inch of Dancer Arm movement is needed (Example: For very fast line speeds).Turn potentiometer P6 on PID-2, CCW until desired max reel speed is obtained at desired max speed Dancer Arm position. [This sets your RPM per inch of Dancer Arm movement or Maximum speed position.] [CW decreases RPM/inch , CCW increases RPM/inch]

[Note: All potentiometers are 22 turns maximum travel and just slip after 22 turns. For PID adjustments see the PID-2 adjustment sheet!]
