A coil winding management system that can be tailored to virtually any process involving winding and rewinding to eliminate surging rolls and assure smooth rewind operation is being introduced by Waddington Electronics, Inc. of Cranston, Rhode Island.

The Waddington Coil Winding Management System features the SONA-TROLâ ultrasonic loop control sensor which can be mounted up to 20 ft. above a loop and measure changes in stock distance as small as .010" and is unaffected by dirt or dampness. Eliminating improperly wound coils by providing tapered tension, the loop controller incorporates a PID function to prevent the surging of rolls and assure smooth rewind operation.

Capable of operating with electrical or pneumatic brakes, the Waddington Coil Winding Management System provides 0 to 100% taper and is suitable for new and retrofit installations. Multiple sensors can handle stranded loops and applications include extruder loop control, textile pay-out, slitters, metal stamping, roll forming, and related equipment.

The Waddington Coil Winding Management System is priced according to configuration. Literature and price quotations are available upon request.
